Q: my school is witholding cancellation papers until all exam papers have been marked?

it rankles a little they won't trust me to finish marking as I have always done. they got my cancellation letters on the fist of tenth of june or thereabouts. held them until the last week of june and then only when ive given in  all exam papers.

i wondered if this was justified on their part, nornal procedure? why do this when they can easily punish with salary

There is zero trust in Chinese society because it happens all the time that people who have always done a good work suddenly double cross you because they see an opportunity of some sort. Can be after 10 years of loyal service, but it does happen quite often.

RachelDiD:

Indeed. Trust is a sign of weakness here. No matter what they seem like, these are hardly functional people...more like the aliens from Galaxy Quest, waiting for the chance to eat each other alive. If they have to act functional for a decade or two in order to do it, the smart ones will.

You are due to all Contract completion/cancellation documents after the end of the Contract, not before.

By Chinese Labour Law, School is required to submit all documents to you or your new employer in 30-days after your last working day.

And to top that, my potential new employers always wanted to see Release letter and FEC Cancel Certificate before the end of the Contract ... TIC!

The GaoKao papers have been marked. Did you get your papers. Or do they mean the ZhongKao papers. In that case you'll have to wait another two weeks.  I think they are looking for a way to get you these papers because they weren't suppose to hire you in the first place.
