Q: Need information about the Tax rate in China....
I will be working in Guangzhao on a salary of 8000 rmb.Can somebody tell me about the tax rate and insurance cost?

Tax rates in China on income are progressive, the more you make the more you pay.
But the first 4,000 Rmb of your salary will be tax free. The rest will be taxed according to the table below:
5% 1 - 500
10% 501 - 2,000
15% 2,001 - 5,000
20% 5,001 - 20,000
25% 20,001 - 40,000
30% 40,001 - 60,000
35% 60,001 - 80,000
40% 80,001 - 100,000
45% 100,001 and above
Normally, (health) insurance will be provided and paid by employer, not you.
Any other source of income will be taxed at different rates not included here.

Yes, they are month. Tax for foreigners kicks in at RMB 4,800 per month. From 4,801 to 5,300, on that part alone you are taxed at 10%; from 5,301 to 9,800, you are taxed at 20% on that amount alone. It's a very confusing and often miscalculated system. Every major city has a "Foreigner Taxation Window" at the local tax office. Any questions, try there. In the major cities, someone at that window will have a rudimentary knowledge of English.
The tax rate for foreigners was re-adjusted several years and according to the Ministry of Taxation, where I have taken this verbatim, * Initial deduction is 2,000 RMB for PRC residents and 4,800 for foreigners.
No. The initial irate is RM3500 for the locals and RMB4800 for the foreigners. For RMB8000 you pay very little income tax (the good news). The bad news id RMB8000 does not go very far in China anymore.
For Guangzhou, you should ask for RMB12,000 per month.
I know its been a long time since the reply was posted, could anyone confirm if these tax rates are the same? and are they same for all cities?
