Q: Need Visa help!
My RP is due to expire in 2 months (and I'm fairly certain I can get another 1 month as a tourist after that).
What should I do?
Am I asking too early? Should I wait until only a couple of days before I have to leave the country - or should I just let it all go and do nothing for a few more months - and then beg for help (when, hopefully, I'll have absolutely no money left and be truly desperate...).
My passport still has another 5 years, and plenty of pages left in it - is this going to make things too easy for me? It's also still in my possession because I haven't given it to my employers, or sent it home, or some other stupid shit. How can I make things more difficult for myself?
Is working on a legally acquired RP really the best thing I can do? Tourist visas are so much more.... fun. I can get myself trapped in situations that are really difficult to get out of, and possibly get myself arrested, fined and deported... and I did come to China for fun and adventure. (or, I could just do the 'when in Rome' thing, and pay them off with a huge bribe!)
My boss has been pretty good with me - giving me the hours and pay I've asked for, and has even lined up a few side-gigs from time to time... should I dump that and go look for what Helen ESL or some other dodgey school/agent is offering (even though I've read all the bad reviews about them over the last few years - I'm fairly certain that they've turned a new leaf, cos all Chinese companies prefer to have a good long look in the mirror and change their ways... the money isn't really that important to them!)
I know all about SAFEA, PSB, China Immigration and all that... but I thought I'd come on ECC and ask such stupid questions, so that I can ignore you (and probably start insulting you, telling you I know someone who knows someone who knows someone who heard about someone didn't have things so bad) - and then just disappear after arging with you for a few posts....
Any (shunned) advice??

Sacrcastic but it rings true since people forget to check official websites for information and look for exceptional experience faced by couple of guys.

He's got a serious point with his sarcasm. How many visa questions have you read on here where the poster has big, last minute, problems caused by nothing more than a lack of common sense or preparation?
So this is the unqualified ESL guy that's been giving us a bad name. I feel no desire to help you.
if you go one day pass your visa date for exit, your name goes on a list, not a good list at that, and there is a huge fine per day that you stay beyond your expire date. staying beyond that is like telling the chinese government you dont care about their rules....
someone was a few days past expiration date and said it cost thousands of rmb. it may be difficult to get visa in the future as well.
dont wait until the last few days to leave or get another visa or 1 month extension.

if you enter the country with a tourist visa, it is just not possible for you to switch to a Z visa without leaving the country. And it is not so easy to extend a tourist visa, speaking from my own exp.(it is really a pain in th ass). So, you can contact me through my email maceloawis@hotmail.com
You, ABSOLUTELY, should not take the job. Why would you go to a foreign country to work for somone you already know is shady? What they are asking you to do is illegal, period!
