Ok, so there's that one agent who helped me get an F visa about 5 months ago. The time for the renewal is coming, so I decided to ask him in advance if he could help me get another half-year visa.
What he told me wasn't very good news. He said that he couldn't help me get a visa in Beijing, and that Harbin was the only place I could get one. He also added that some new visa regulations forbid agents like himself to do this kind of thing in Beijing. All of them.
Is it true? On one hand, I think that's a bunch of bull, and he can't make me a new visa because his rather shady business was banished from Beijing. But on the other hand, knowing that almost every year PRC changes the visa requirements, I think that getting a new F visa in Beijing might be a real problem.
So what is it, guys?
Thanks in advance.

First if you are working here you need a Z visa not an F visa.
If you are looking for an F visa try traders link if you havent already done so heard that they are "connected" somehow to the PSB.
For regulations regarding visas not to my knowledge have they cracked down on doing visas in China but since this is a changing of gov heads this year it could because of this reason.
Going to Hong Kong is your safest bet.
Forever Bright Trading Co. is great and reputable. I got my last 6 month multi entry F visa there same day for $2000HKD, and it does not have limits on days in the country like most visa's, where you have to leave and re-enter every 30 or 60 days.

Hi there im currently in Hong Kong where can i go to get a this f visa? Also am i restricted to any province to stay. I will be using it to study Chinese privately in Ningxia.

Sorry I got the name wrong. It is Forever Bright Trading Company Ltd. You will need a businees card to get the F visa. Here is the website http://www.fbt-chinavisa.com.hk/ I would suggest you call them first...they are very good. They are in Kowloon.
The advise given by the Dude is a good one. Contact them on Internet, and see if they can help you, and the cost of doing so.
I had a friend who was very happy to get a Chinese Driver's License without examination by paying 1,000 Rmb. He was really proud of his achievement and rubbed many noses with the fat that he had a valid local license. Well, everything was OK until he was stopped one day and the Police checked his records on the computer, and to his surprise it was found that while he held a valid license, there was no record of it on Police computers. So, he ended up with another charge of driving without a valid license.
So, for my visas, I always go directly to Chinese Embassies, and only use visa agencies that arte reputable and have been in business for a few years to avoid getting a "fake".
Alas, this was what I said in another post. A change is going on in the Government, between now and next March more than 80% of the people in High Office will be changed, the next change will occur in ten years, we will see expired visa foreigners being gathered and deported, new regulations NO, they are just up holding the regulations that they have had for so long. Just not as laxed as before. Now, the incident in Beijing with the High Ranking Government Official is making things really difficult. So, for those of you who are on expired visas, hide. For those of you on F and L's working at schools, be ready, if your school has good relations then shouldn't be to much a problem, the PSB will just nicely ask them to send you home for a working visa. If you work for a mom and pop school, you'd better find something more stable. Their are agencies in Beijing that can help extend these visa's, but it sounds to me that the problem of extending an F visa with another opportunity of extension probably means the last one you got is possibly a fake visa. Follow The Dudes advice and use a Hong Kong Agency, you'd have better luck and probably cheaper
I'm an Australian working for an expatriate services company in Guangzhou. We can arrange F visas without an invitation letter. All nationalities welcome.

Hi Steve, glad to here another agency can help foreigners, so for the record, you being Australian, or Chinese Australian and give us a quick quote on your prices for expired visa's and make the Expat community feel safer, especially seeing how you should be posting this on a different part of echinacities and a typical Chinese businessman would no doubt be in this part of posting for a different means of making money, you know, like Hampson

Actually no, I'm not Australian Chinese. I was born in Sydney and have no Asian in me at all. And unlike many of the Chinese agents out there, I do not rip off customers. I have used agents myself for the past 5 years and am aware of all the stunts they try to pull. And yes, I can be trusted, if you doubt my credibility I can forward you contact details of many of my many satisfied customers.
It is easy to sit back and make sarcastic comments about visa agents, but I am not like them...that is why I can do so well.
Apparently, one of the bosses in PSB was accused of taking bribes and was replaced by another one, hence this small "regulation" that doesn't let just anyone extend visas in Beijing...
Well, thanks a lot, this was really helpful! Everything went nice and smooth and I got a new visa.
I don't get it.
I have never used a agent to get a visa in my life.
the L visa is still a peace of piss even now it's 4 pages
the F visa is just as easy.
I haven't done z visa yet however I will do it myself when I need to
We did the potential spouse migration visa for Australia and the partner migration visa.
So what is the big deal with visa's?
I.m a Bloody farm boy and I can do it
all I do is answer the questions and supply what they ask for.
I don't mean to offend anybody but you must be really lazy
or have more money than sence to get somebody else to do it
Well, if you can easily supply 25 thousand yuan on a bank account (needed for a simple L visa) and do everything yourself then I'm really glad for you. I'm a farm boy as well and I've rarely gotten to hold that big money in my hands, I'll be honest.
I have never had to supply any money or banking details for a L or a F visa
it cost me $94 Aus (621CYN) and gave them the paper work they asked for
I bet a agent charges more than that.
What country are you from?
It must be one that has a large risk attached to it for them wanting a guarantee
to see that you can support yourself on a tourist or busines visa
and you know you are not supposed to work on a F visa anyway and if you are that is why they don't trust you
that would be a Z visa to work
