Q: Non-awkward way to ask about someone's gender when you only know their Chinese name?

Is there some set Chinese phrase used to ask about the gender of a person when all you know is their Chinese name?

And for that matter, are there any good ways to figure out by the person's name if they are a man or a woman?

I flat out ask, "So, is that a man or a woman's name?" Nothing wrong or awkward about that.
