Q: The number of the beast?
The Chinese are big on numbers and have a great liking for the number six, as in pronunciation it expresses 'smoothness'. For this reason it is not at all uncommon to see 666 on number plates, advertisements, billboards, signs, phone numbers, etc. Is it only a matter of time before some fundamentalist Christian latches on to this and proclaims this country the home of Satan?
Isn't the 666 actually a wrong interpretation of the Christian writings. I think I read recently that new material had surfaced, so the number was something else.

come hang out with me some night, if this is not the domain of Satan, then wtf is it ? cavemen? true humanity? conduct oneself as a primate. Fair enough.
btw: I think 'they' are 'good' 'people'. I just think they are the expression of 'man' as his true self. An advanced primate species.

Pretty sure Chinese have a hard-on for satan. They love the number 666 over here. And the line cutting? Oh, man... get thee behind me, satan!
I noticed it to and I actually saw several things that had the 666 sign. One was a bus number and another waa I believe part of a phone number. This was a while back, but I"m sure more of these numbers exist here.

According to legend, or maybe just urban myth, the number of the beast is related to the practice of checksums that monks used when rewriting the Bible by hand for almost two thousand years, before the invention of the printing press. Checksums are still used in computers today.
Each letter was assigned a number (A=100, B=101, C=102.... Z=125). At the end of each line, the numbers were added, and checked against the checksum of the book that it was being copied from. This minimised errors.
Substituting those numbers for the letters in the name HITLER, you get the number 666.

The sum of the letters would give a 3 digit number... But it's pretty easy to cheat the system... Nero (Caesar Augustus) is also 666...
And I would love to see a religious nut job accusing China of being Satan worshipers... People would smite his butt back to where he came from in no time.
