Long story short;
While in China was offered a Job. Signed a contracted and went back to home country to apply for visa.
Got the visa, came back to China. Got the employment permit.....then was told the job position was no longer available.
There reason was too many employees.
I wondering if I can do anything about this. What are my options?

Your post smells like BS. A company pays a crap load of money to get your visa, FEC and resident's permit. And once they have these for you, they are responsible for you. You can go to SAFEA in your city and get them in a lot of trouble. \
What do you mean by work permit?
Funny how these posts pop up when the CFTU guy is active.
If the contract has a probationary period it is legal for them to cut you loose but that rarely happens. You have to be really and truly pathetic and awful.
Not a lot really. All sounds a bit strange that the company would process your work permit after you got back here & then tell you the job was no longer available.
Something smells fishy here.
Your work permit / resident visa is tied to your job. Seeing as how you don't have that job you'll have to leave the country. Although perhaps it hasn't been cancelled in which case you can hang around until it expires.
I dunno.

Ask them for the release documents and find another job. You need to go to the answers section to figure that out?

Yeah I smell a rat.
If it was just a case of "they don't need you anymore" presumably their wouldn't be any animosity on their part...they'd just give you a release letter and tell you so long good luck. It would be in their best interest.
But then again why would they process your visa in the first place? Those aren't free Yeah I smell BS
I hope it was not a teaching job, because your grammar is terrible. With that said, many recruiters will use the bait and switch process to get teachers into hard to fill locations. They will advertise wonderful jobs in places many FT want to go. Then, when they think they have you hooked, they tell you that the job advertised and the one you want, is no longer available. But, they have another great location that is just as wonderful as the original.
I tell these recruiters that I was applying for the job advertised. I am not applying to hire a recruiter to find a job for me. If they can not get me hired for the job I wanted, I will continue looking on my own.
nashboroguy:
HA HA. NO!!!! I am just experienced in dealing with recruiters when I am seeking jobs. It is a common ploy recruiters use here in China, among other countries. I know very little about the CTFU, other than the chaos they cause among other expats such as yourself. And, I am not quite sure who or what The Leader is. But, thanks for playing. You can go back to your rat piss beer drinkingfest.
Englteachted:
This post has nothing to do with a recruiter. It clearly states the company processed the work permit.
nashboroguy:
Actually...NO...you are wrong as usual. There is no mention of a recruiter or company in the original posting. No go back to playing with your legos. Nonsense post. To the Op. What job were you offered? Teaching? Marketing? Working for the CFTU? What nonsense.
Write 'SAFEA' in the search above for address and contact numbers of Foreign Expert Bureau in your city, and dial them for advice.
As I know, you must present Working permit when you apply for Z visa at Chinese Embassy, so you couldn't get Working permit at your return to China with new visa.
Hotwater:
Sorry but you're wrong. To get the Z visa the employer has to get the employment licence to employ the foreigner & issue an invitation letter. After the foreigner arrives in China the employer then applies for the actual work permit & then residence visa.

Hotwater, the site you quoted is for India. The employer need to get you a FEC and work permit, which you have to submit to your local Chinese embassy to get a Z visa. Only after you arrive, you do the medical and get a residence permit. This story smells like BS.
Hotwater:
I know that site was for India (was the first one I could find!). I've just checked on my laptop as I have the process on there. It's as follows:
1) apply for alien employment licence (so the company can employ the foreigner)
2) Apply for invitation letter
3) Apply for Z visa
4) Get temporary residents form from local office/police station
5) APPLY FOR ALIEN EMPLOYMENT PERMIT (Work permit)
6) Apply for residence permit.
So so I stand by what I wrote
yongge:
Your laptop may be wrong I am going through the process now with my employer and with input from my local Chinese consulate. They will only issue a Z visa after my employer get a FEC and work permit for me in China. These documents are then sent to me, to be submitted with my Z visa application. Once I arrive in China I need to apply for a residence permit.
Hotwater:
Might be different then for teachers. The process I wrote was what I went through in 2011 when my UK employer transferred me officially to China. The document came from Fesco who processed all the paperwork.
icnif77:
School must apply for WPermit and Invitation letter (with Z pick-up stated), which must be approved by SAFEA. School must send you both original documents to your home address or HK hotel (if SAFEA approved HK Z pick-up). Then, you're able to apply for Z at Chinese Embassy.
In order to apply at SAFEA, school must be authorized (by SAFEA) to hire foreigners.
All written is out of brazillon times Z application, either in my home Chinese Embassy or HK.
I returned to China 20 days ago, and with WP and ILetter, processing fee, I was able to get Z visa. No medical was required anymore, as it was required in 2012 by HK Chinese Embassy.
