i have a friend ,he is good drummer but unfortunately he could nt got any chance, now a ktv is agree to keep him as a waiter but he think foriegner cant do that job,and if it was so easy then every foriegner will be there.and they are offering good pay ,so if any one of friends have some idea, please share it
Whatever kind of a visa he is on, I highly doubt that he would be considered to be working "legally" as a drummer at KTV. Once upon a time there was a special category of visas for artists and entertainers but it was mainly used to run Russian women down from Russia for certain purposes and thus that loophole was closed. In other words, no.
Ummm.... He might want to check out the KTV that is offering him the job. A lot of KTVs also have staff on hand to fulfill the needs of patrons who don't want a cute girl to sit on their lap.
Also, it would depend on how much Chinese your friend can speak.
Even if they do hire him legally, I would treat the pay with high skepticism. Even the girls in the KTVs get paid nothing but what the KTV charges for them, which is why most of them find additional ways to make income.
The waiters will make additional income by selling 'party supplies' to the patrons and KTV girls. But I doubt any of the workers, even the mama-sans, are making a decent base salary.

x-pat john, maybe I am dumb, forgive me, but with the cute girl thing in parenthesis, are you implying that perhaps HE might hired to sit on some guy's lap? Is that really possible? Am I reading wrong? Or HE might be hired to sit on some women's lap? My God, I am glad that I never set foot in a KTV -- I always thought that they were just public houses with music.
Xpat.John:
I have seen guys and girls paid to sit in the laps of men & women. Pretty much the customer gets what they want in some KTVs.
KTVs have 2 roles, if you go with a mixed group of friends (male & female) then they will leave you alone and let you have fun singing. But if you go with just guys, a mama-san will appear with a group of girls for your entertainment.
I can't tell you how many business deals I discussed inside KTVs. Hookers seem to be an integral part of the Chinese business culture.
If its ok for you and they wanna hire you of course is ok.
Well, hard to say. If there's a Chinese person to do that job, which there are many I would say no. But, if he's in China on a temporary work holiday, I don't see an issue. But Chinese doesn't give those kind of visas.
Not sure if it would be good for everybody ... Someone like Ted or Crimo maybe but not for a person who cares about their rep.
