China's success in Beijing is widely reported here in The People's Republic but the rest of the world has a myriad of opinions as to why and how they were able to "achieve success". Can they duplicate their medal count this time around?
They achieve most of their success in sports that are far from mainstream in most countries. The Chinese government will plough large coaching and monetory resources into development of athletes in these sports and as such have a far better chance of success. These sports also tend to be the ones that benefit from large amounts of training and as such there are not big numbers of people in developed nations willing to commit their life to the boredom and repletion needed to succeed.
Yes they do have a few top class swimmers and 1 or 2 in track and field but expect their successes to come in the likes of diving, gymnastics, table tennis, archery, shooting weightlifting (especially the female and lighter weight classes) etc.
Yes they will have success in getting gold medals especially in diving. There gymnastics team is really good and they have good weight lifters here.

True. Weight lifters in the lighter weights and all female classes will be very strong for China. Of course these just happen to be some of the main areas of all sports where performance enhancement is most effective.
It will also be interesting if their gymnastics teams have success. In Beijing there was the underage scandal.
be honestly. the common people already tired of Chinese elite athlete mechanism. one way the center government and local governments spent tremendous money on a few athletes in order to get gold plate as could as possible another way they don't want invest enough money to improve common people physical exercise condition.
i have a stong faith in the success that china will duplicte like 2008,but after reading your guys' comment,i think u have good points.chinese government invest a lot of money in coaching, benefitting professional athletes, but like some of u gus said,it turns out chines athletes devoted themselves in trainning mechanism day by day without stoping.how bord! so will their worth will get achived if they win gold medals?i don't think so.
moreover,i don't know u guys have noticed that chinese government doesn't have a standard system for retired athletes.as a resullt, some professional player are forced to rto some labor work or low-paying job because lack of knowledge or related skills, some evern sell their gold plat to support their familes?how miserable
I hope so. Sports are more fun if you have a rival to cheer against.
