Q: One must leave China...Which do you choose?

1. KFC

2. McDonalds

3. Burger King

4. Pizza Hut

5. Starbucks

Before some of you freak out, this is just a fun questionaire. It is not being considered by the Chinese government.

Not McDonalds.

I mean, the food - if you can call it that - is utter shite but when you've just arrived in China, have the spicy belly and finding a somewhat clean public dunny is next to impossible (especially when you need one in a hurry) those huge golden arches are a welcome sight.

McD's can always be relied on to have somewhat usable conveniences.

They don't serve chicken in Chinese KFCs ... broken heart

Stiggs:

I've been in McDonalds late at night lining up for a feed with all the other drunks and not able to buy a quarter pounder, or anything with beef in it. (and it had nothing to do with the metric system either).

All they had was fish burgers.

I was several times in McD only to use their free wi-fi ... in Pompano Beach, Fla, year 2002.

Very clean utilities (WC), but I dislike smell of the place and every McD has the same aroma.

Stiggs:

I also hate the smell, feels like it sticks to you and covers you in a layer of toxic fat and as a general rule I never set foot in them, except when...

Need a WC

Traveling and nowhere else has coffee - their coffee is ok

Drunk late at night needing something to soak up the beer

Girlfriend wants to go there because she likes their ice cream.

... other thingy is, I consider myself as a connoisseur ... that's French ... i.e. even when I am making a burger, it tastes like a real food ... and furthermore coffee is on the top of all nutrients in my world.

A day can be ruined, if I made a sip of lousy espresso.

McDonald's China completed a strategic cooperation deal with China CITIC Bank Corp., CITIC Capital and the Carlyle Group in July. After the deal, CITIC and CITIC Capital collectively own a 52 percent stake in the new McDonald's China, and Carlyle Group's and McDonald's shareholdings are 28 percent and 20 percent, respectively. The new company holds the franchise for the mainland and Hong Kong markets. In other words, it is no longer a subsidiary wholly owned by the US fast-food giant, but a subsidiary incorporated by CITIC and Carlyle. Thus, its legal name should also be changed from 'Maidanglao', the Chinese transliteration of McDonald's.

Starbucks

I like coffee, the aroma also, but their food needs improvement.

Stiggs:

I remember going into a cafe once looking to kill an hour or so in a pleasant atmosphere with a nice coffee.

I paid 35 RMB and got a sachet of nestle instant coffee dumped in a small cup of water. I was the only customer in there and I tried to relax and drink my crap coffee while two of the staff stood next to my chair silently staring at me and another guy noisily spat on the floor every two minutes or so. There was no music, no comfortable chairs, no decoration to speak of...it was awful but not really their fault, they obviously had an original idea - be the first in town to open a western style cafe / coffee shop, they just had no idea what  a cafe / coffee shop was supposed to be like.

I think Starbucks has played a big part in introducing the cafe concept to China, they're much more common now.

KFC needs to go. The chicken is terrible.

Stiggs:

Wait... you think that's chicken you're eating?

Chinese people bred huge wild RATS for their 'nutritious' meat, came up with dozens of ways to cook them and celebrated '100 reasons to eat them' - before they were banned due to coronavirus

How to you ban the rat ...?   LOLOLOL
