Q: One sign in Chinese horoscope is Rabbit but is Cat in the West ?

One sign of the Chinese horoscope is the Rabbit in here, but I was surprised to see that in France for example, it turns out there is no Rabbit sign, instead they call it the Cat, so Rabbit turned into Cat, any explanation ?

Even in Korea, the rabbit is replaced by the cat.  The reason I was given was that when this system was created, rabbits were an unknown animal in some places so the cat was used to make it easier for everyone to understand.
