It thought it might be cabbage, or perhaps even rice.

I like mangos more than oranges, how are we judging, on quantity or quality or favorites ?

I won't eat Chinese shrimp, dragon fruit no whoopie and don't care for cantaloupe. I agree . thought rice would be # 1. I like jasmine rice and super alborio rice. Never seen alborio rice in China.

I realize now that the OP is writing from a perspective of Southern China.

Up here, the largest crops are apples, peaches,  pumpkins, sunflowers (for sunflower seeds) and the like.

I wonder if out west in Xinjiang if the largest crops might not be grapes and figs and things like that.

nevermind:

Southern China is not part of China?

nevermind:

No he is not writing form a perspective of southern China. He asked simply "what is China's best crop"

I'm not sure what exactly you mean by best, do you mean the one I like the best, the one that is best for China (i.e. makes the most money) or do you mean the largest, i.e. the one the Chinese grow the most of?

If its the one I like the best that's easy, my favourite food in all the world of any type, is Mango!

Heck it is one of the reasons I first came to Nanning 8 years ago, (of course the main one was to get married laugh  )
