Q: Other places in China with service like "Haidilao"?

A friend took me to a hot pot chain restaurant called "Haidilao" over the weekend. I was told that it was known for its really good service, which I can now attest to.  I am curious why this restaurant's service is so good and if there are any other restaurants (chains or otherwise) around China with similar service.

I went with some friends, and the "good" service was annoying. Offering everyone an apron 4 times, bringing forks and knives for us laowai (30 minutes into the meal of course, and I dont see how a fork would be of any help eating hotpot anyway)...

The reason the service is so good is because that is what their "catch" is. The food is pretty good, but not much different than other hot pots. So the experience of going to a restaurant that has a wait staff that is attentive is something people like.

I have enjoyed other places much more that didnt seem to try so hard at it, where it was a bit more relaxed.

I don't know if its a chain, but hotpot restaurant 老鱼埚 (old fish pot) had pretty good service. Always mega packed so they give people waiting free beer and popcorn. That wins it on the service front for me.

Excellent service.

It always has long queues and you may get manicures or play cards when waiting meals. It really deserves the price.
