In February 2010, I overstayed my visa for over 30 days and was fined 5000RMB. I paid when I found out immediately and to my surprise, after i paid they gave me a L visa and that was it. I went to Japan shortly after and came back from Japan to Hong Kong. When I was applying for a visa back to Guangzhou, it was refused and I had to pay more to take to Shenzhen border to reapply. I was accepted and went back to Guangzhou. Afterwards, every time I applied for my visa it was accepted both in Hong Kong and Guangzhou without any problems. Now I am back in Canada and will be going back to Guangzhou with my newborn baby, will my visa ever be refused again since now I'm applying from a different place? I've been paranoid for a few days and can't sleep! Hope somebody can help me answer my questions

Apply for Chinese visa in Canada, instead in Hong Kong.
If Chinese deny your visa, you'll be home in Canada. Much better than if visa is denied in HK, and you must return to Canada.

It is difficult to say with certainty! They can deny visa without explanation.
When I'm applying in HK, I am always prepared for 'negative reply'!
Best answer you'll get, when you apply for visa from Canada.
Still very paranoid, thank you though for the answer

I applied for first Chinese visa in London, UK from Guernsey in 2009. I sent my passport, fee check, and one other form by mail. I received my passport with 60 days L in less than a week.
I applied for Taiwan's visitor visa, too. I had to come to London in person. Passport, Bank statement of sufficient funds, and other work, (employment records). Denied! I have never been to Taiwan.

My husband is China nationality, I applied once before for a spousal visa in Guangzhou and was granted with no problems. This time I'm applying for a L visa so if its denied, I can always go for the spousal visa again, right?
icnif77:
Why are you even applying for L? You have spousal visa? Maybe somebody else can chip in here?
Poon_niki:
I don't have my husbands original hukou booklet here with me, just a photocopy of it and a photocopy of his ID. I'm not sure if you need the original to apply for the spousal visa
GuilinRaf:
If you want the Spousal Visa, I believe your husband (or his relatives) needs to write you a letter of invitation, which includes a copy of his (or his relatives) hukou which has been properly notarized by a Chinese Notary.
The Chinese Embassy can give you more information.
Poon, you will be fine, it was obviously a mistake on their part three years ago. To be honest, it is better to do this at an embassy, not a border check point where in a lot of cases, you will be denied. Doing your visa in Canada or Hong Kong would be a wise choice, preferably in Canada where you do not have to stay for a day in a small hotel.

I will be applying the the visa for myself and my child early September. I'm just very paranoid that I was be refused since they have done so 3 years ago.
