Q: Overtime work calculation
Does anyone knows how to calculate overtime work payment in Beijing for a foreigner? I searched on Baidu and the answer is when the overtime is on weekend you would get paid for 1 day salary x 200%, is it applied for both foreigner and Chinese ppl? in what kind of Visa it would be applied? because I am holding student Visa until my graduation but thinking to change to work Visa. My office here just gives me 1 day salary for overtime work on Saturday. Do you think I can ask for 1 day double salary? any comments and and answers are welcome.. thank you so much! have a nice day! ^^

Any working on a student visa is illegal. And since you are working without the proper type of visa or work permit, overtime rules don't really apply.
But, if you were working legally, the rules are something like this:
Over 8 hours in 1 day = x1.5
Over 40 hours per week = x1.5
Over 6 days in a week = x2
Working on holidays = x2
It also depends on your contract that you sign with your employer. I signed a contract without any overtime fee because the nature of my job is more milestone based then time based. It does result in me working some 70 hour weeks but I enjoy what I do

Last place I worked for wanted to offer me a new contract in which I'd be paid less for additional hours than the normal rate... one of the numerous reasons I declined.
