Q: Panda's aside, what is China's coolest/nicest animal?
Are there any nature experiences to be had apart from going to Chengdu and seeing the panda's ?

Any animal wearing a panda suit.
I tell you, they're adorable.
Head down to South West Yunnan near the Burmese border (Xishuangbanna) and see the wild Asian elephants and snub nosed monkeys 
pigs. they are lovely. seriously, am i the only one who has changed my attitude to pigs and to this word since i came here?

I agree pigs are cool. I feel sorry for them being so tasty, they are actually really smart animals with intelligence higher than dogs (social skills in interaction with humans is lower though)

my girlfriend's parents are from a village. there are some pigs there. i came here from a big city and never really saw a pig (alive). after seeing them and playing with one (yes playing) i fell in love. their cute, funny, and weird. we ate him for last spring festival...
They have snow leopards in Xinjiang and, I think, parts of Tibet. You need to be pretty damn cool to be cooler than a snow leopard.
I'd say the moon bears and those wild horses they got up north..Przewalski's horses.
Cool animals? Nope, there's no wildlife out there......
Uncool animals? Yup, everywhere, about 1,3 billion.
This is China's coolest animal. From first hand experience.
