Q: Parents beaten up in China
The situation is serious and hope to get some experience based answers.
Parents of my girlfriend got beaten up by their neigbours(she is Chinese, I know the title is a little tricky). The neighbours always had some problem with them but usually it was just cursing. This time they planned to beat up my gf's parents; brough some other family members and beat up both my girlfriend's mom and dad. Dad end up in the hospital paying 10 000rmb; though the hospital refused to issue paper confirming that he has been injured.
Police seem to be useless, just fill in the report and that's it. The neighbour is member of communist party and seem to have more connections in that village than my gf dad (e.g. hospital refusing the paper)
The town is quite small, it's not a big city; and the parents live there by themselves - their children are in another city. They have some relatives but they are not very helpful.
What steps are advisable:
- go the official way - take it to the court
- hire up some thugs, beat up the neigbours and their family
- other
The neighbours were taken to the court in the past by my gf parents, as they kept blocking house building without any reason. Now house is built so they got even more angry...
You might elaborate some more on the last paragraph. Whose house is that, and why would the neighbours be more angry now that it's been built? They haven't been able to prevent building so it's a lost cause, isn't it? And did your gf parents win in court or not?
Probably their relatives are afraid to get involved, a universal trait in China it seems. As is the hospital. Maybe you could hire a lawyer to get the medical files or something concrete like a receipt from the hospital to begin with.
quiet vengeance about 6 months after it's forgotten is the best way, rodents in the house, rolled up thick paper in the tail pipe of the car to burn it to the ground works real well.
my favorite is to steal their passwords and have them make offensive remarks about the ccp from an internet cafe. this usually fixes the problem right away.
a raw egg on the hot car in august overnight to make a paint job complete.

I will tell you point blank... the truth of how it works.
I have dined with mayors, and lived in small villages for months. Been all around China so this isn't coming from someone who thinks they know what they are talking about but a very realistic view.
If this other family has more connections that your GFs then they (your GF's family) are quite literally screwed. Nobody is going to want to help them out of fear of reprisal, that is why people driving around in black mercedes and audi's act with a god complex. Because they are gods in their towns. Their only out (your GF's family) is to try and use the media for justice. Otherwise, they should probably just apologize if they plan to live there and not cause a fuss... either that or get out of that town quickly.
Trust me, creating a fuss will only make things worse for them.

Couldn't agree more - connections are everything here.
There are so many crazy and illegal things that I'd suggest doing in revenge. Alas, I would be harmonized (and rightfully so!) for doing it.
Instead, use weibo. Start a firestorm.
Get them a Bloody big Dog and post signage around the place . if there are kids around keep the dog very visible for a few Days then take it away but leave the signs and play a dog barking sound at midnight just to remind the people next door
or invite a bunch of Australian Bikies over for a party then you will have the whole street to yourself in 10 minutes flat
