Q: Payoff the cops?
I realize how big the city of Shanghai is and probably how big and corrupt the police force could or can be. That being said, does anyone know about payoffs for anything bad happening to them? I have my motor bike and was going to try to inquire if I ever get caught if it was possible to go this way or I would be in deeper shit. Then again it probably comes down to personal integrity for each cop too I am thinking. Please comment or add any suggestions.
I've asked about this to chinese and they believe can't. The less naive say they would but they say in special situations, I dont know which special situations. ha

The cops seemed to like me in China, all my life I've dealt with cops and tickets at home. I hate cops, most of my tickets were fraud on the cops part,, like they're not crooked?

If by motorbike you mean you have a fake plates or invalid license, that's really not that big of a violation/crime in China. You'll probably much better off just accepting the fact that you chose to break the law and you got caught. Trying to bribe people always has the possibility of turning a minor situation like this into a serious problem.
To answer your question though about cops, it's impossible to say. Every person is different. This applies anywhere in the world. Some cops might take your bribe, some might throw extra charges at you if you offer them a bribe, and some might see your willingness to dish out cash and end up blackmailing/extorting you.
I would advise against it, especially for such a minor situation.

This is what i am asking about, the motor bike issue being illegal with me not driving with plates or license. I am still getting used to driving here and knowing where to ride and not and what times. I'll just go with not bribing IF i get caught. Thanks.
I got stopped on my my bike near Dongzhimen and I had neither tag nor title. I gave the copper 500 yuan in an envelope I keep in my wallet exactly for such "problems". It worked and he sent me on my way. If however you offer him cash that is not well hidden, he will think you are setting him up and refuse it straight away.
