Q: People don't go out if it's rainy or freezy in the Mainland?
In my home city, people are everywhere even the sky collapses!
From what I saw in a couple of years, in cities, there's always a reason to *NOT* go outside: too hot, too cold, too much sun, not enough sun, likely to rain. Colleagues would say the weather was either too hot or too cold, leaving about 2 months complaint-free in the year. Ho, and of course, there's that thing about not getting dark.
The good thing about this is that it leaves a lot of areas (apart from the downtown areas with the shopping malls) blissfully deserted 10 months in a year.
Don't complain about it. It's awesome to be able to go out without it being crowded.
I believe this behavior is based on superstition and old wives tales, e.g. if your hair gets wet you will get sick.
