Several weeks ago I was out drinking with some Chinese friends, of course the chat such as it was (my Chinese is still almost nonexistent) turned to where I'd lived, and one of the places I mentioned was Germany, so the conversation turned to beer.
Then on Christmas day one of those friends turned up with two 5 litre cans of Paulaner Dunkel and Hefe Weiss bier. Absolute heaven, I've drank most of the Dunkel already and tonight I'm going to try and get outside of the majority of the hefe too!
What was your best present from a Chinese friend?
I have nothing to compare with your good fortune.
I suspect however that it is not just your GOOD LUCK, but more like, "what comes around goes around" .........and I will be try not to be so naughty between now and the next gift giving season.
I wish for this place to be filled with beer drinkers!!!!!!!!!!!
The only thing that can beat 10 liters of good beer is 11 liters of good beer.
I was gonna come up with a witty retort and I really did get a nice present from somebody but after a great deal of thought and another Harbin beer I knew I was beat.
Question within a question: Where did your friend get that stuff? (Oh, and I hate you!)
Hugh.G.Rection:
I don't know where he got it, he has lots of contacts and there are bars in Nanning that advertise German beer so it could be as simple as he bought them at a supermarket.
A gold coin. Apparently the Chinese mint struck a limited number of gold collector's coins and he got one for me on my wedding party. He's a lawyer and mad rich.
I never got drunk in China. If someone sent me 10 hookers, it would out trump 10 beers. I can see it now, 3, 2 1 Ok unwrap.
