Q: Pirate movies you'd never have seen hadn't you come here.

I'm sorry, all i've got to offer is movie stuff; not got 'out else going on but work, family and a late night flik. But it has to be said, moving to China has opened up a world of pirated movies that I don't imagine would have even made the shelf in my local video store, or if they did they'd have been in the 'Foreign Movies' / 'Cultural' / or 'Arthouse' sections gathering dust. Things like the original Icelandic version of 'Let Me In.' That film makes those 'Twilight' movies look.............well, like those 'Twilight' movies. Speaking of which i've just finished watching another Icelandic flik (probably gonna be accused of being an Icelandic wumao now) called 'Black's Game.' Proper gangster flik, not one of these bandwagon, wanabee bad, psuedo-gangster yawns that gets knocked out a dozen a week, but a real life story with spirit. Or 'War Witch' about a girl in Africa who gets roped into servitude as a child soldier. So many solid films that otherwise would have gone under the radar.

So what of yourself? Any 'Run Lola Runs' that would have past you by had you not come to the PRC and had your choices limited to the handful of pirate movies available from around the globe at your local pirate movie emporium?

I dunno about pirated movies but certainly downloading has been great. I have seen, probably, 40 movies that I would never have gone and seen because I was not a big movie goer back home. Too expensive really and if the movie was crap, as many are, you feel cheated. To download 100Gb in Australia would cost a fortune. Here? Zip! I have watched so many movies I've lost count and forgotten what some are even about.

If you can recommend others to download great but I don't buy the pirated ones.

Never seen an Iceland made flick.

Never seen an Icelandic flik? Well download 'Let The Right One In' right away, what are you waiting for? It's a vampire movie about a 12 year old vampire girl and a young boy who kind of falls for her. The western remake 'Let Me In' is also pretty damn cool.
