They checked us last week. It's normal this time of year before the holiday.

Just make sure you have:

1. Passport (show the RP)
2. Housing registration copy with the Local PSB stamp on it.
3. Make sure your working RP is registered at the same address you work in.

Probably won't come to that, but if you wanna be perfect, well them thats all you'll need.

Jesl:

When they came in, what did they say? Last year they checked our school, a lot of teachers were on L/F visas. They didn't care as long as people had their registration papers and valid visa. One L visa guy didn't have his registration slip and was taken away; threatened, but otherwise released with a 50rmb fine. Funny thing is, they didn't check all teachers, only the ones in the office at the time. Mainly just talked with admin. This was in Guangzhou.

They have steps, we've been a legal school out here for about 12 years and of course we are Wallstreet english, so they don't care to meet us face to face. They wanted to see the copies of our visa, FEC and registration, atfer that we give them a bottle of water and they leave. It some ways they feel like document checkers.

I don't understand... why 'be careful'?? Everyone should be working legally and have all the proper documents - nothing to 'be careful' about!

dimm2hcom:

This is because only Z visa allow to work as teacher. If foreigner holding L or F or M type visa couldn't work in school. If they going strictly foreigner will get a ticket and will black list in PSB.

It was sarcasm, dhimm....

Personally, I think, screw them! If they can't work legally, don't work at all. If you work legally, you deserve the shit you get thrown into!

Tarzan, you don't have to believe me, but I can tell you that the links and stories you posted are BS. 90% sure these are trolls posting some fun stories. Yes teachers get caught, but not like this and people from the 5 top countries will 99% be released and return to their illegal working ways and other, well 10% will get lucky and the others will be fined and deported. There is no such thing as strict immigration police in China.

I am not working in a school anymore but I am on a Z anyway (and working), I used to teach German an always had a RP (a Z-visa), in my ex-school where there are foreigners teaching English, French, Spanish, German, and even Korean and Japanese, most were on F-visa, before signing up I required them to add a line in the contract stating that the school will provide me a Z-visa they did so using an agent as they can't process it by themselves, anyway I had a Z and that's all that matter.

Later during the year the local PSB sent two representatives, we had a meeting with them where we had to bring our passports, mine was ok but everyone else wasn't, they told to the school that they have until September 2014 (note that the visa law is almost always updated in September, it might be a sign for serious changes and better enforcement) to regularize the situation of every foreigners or they will be fined and the teachers might be deported.

The next visa law might change even more things than the last one, be ready everyone and enjoy the show of lowlifes being deported by thousands wink

what about the people that want to be legal but cant.

I have a teaching certificate in early childhood care and education but its not a degree.I have well over 20 years teaching children under the age of 6 years old.

I am more qualified to teach than someone with a degree.( I cant teach adults or older kids)but I can teach 2,3,4 year olds.I do think the certificate I have is good enough for kindergarten.which is where I am best at and enjoy.

I wish the law would benefit someone in my situation.I have been teaching in the same job for 12 years as well.

expatlife26:

You should just go to a print shop and forge a diploma. Seriously, why the hell not? You're obviously a good teacher who can do his job. So do what you gotta do.

If you'd been working at the same place for 12 years you might have to change jobs "Hey guys, it turns out I DID go to college I just forgot about it!"

But yeah seriously just make a good fake, I know people in Shanghai who have gotten away with this. Then you're legal. Ikso Fatso

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
