i think the population of china is still increasing. here the one child policy dint go much.Rich people are having 2 or 3 kids and govt dont wanna do anything about it...
The population of China is reaching a plateau. Meaning that growth will slow down to pretty much nothing and remain unchanged for a while until the older generations start dying off and then the population will fall due to the relatively low number of young people.
I remember when i was young at school 15 years ago the text books said China had around 1.3billion now it is a similar amount...i dont know if these can be accurate for so many years the population should have changed a lot i would of thought....
Population always increases in any country.....
But the fact is at what pace it is increasing .....and in China definitely the pace of increase is less compared to 70's to 90's
The latest data released by the national bureau of statistics of China on April 28, 2011 indicate China now has a population of 1.339 billion, in comparison with 1.265 billion of 2000. What's also significant is13.3% of the total population being the 60 plus age group, a 3% increase of that of 2000 survey, while 16.6% of the total population being 0-14 age group in comparison with 27.7% of 1990 survey. China is now the only country in the world with population of seniors (65 plus) exceeding 1 billion.
Other reference data - top five countries in population (2009):
China - 1.334 billion
India - 1.203 billion
U.S.A. - 307 million
