It's going to sound confusing, but is it possible to transfer money from ICBC in China to CIBC in Canada? Can that be done?

You need to have all your banking details:
Institute #, branch #, account #, plus also a 'swift' # that your CIBC can give you. You may also need to know the branch address in Canada.
(I once met another Canadian, and we helped eachother avoid the transfer fees. My money was in Canada, so I e-mail transffered money to him, and he paid me RMB cash here in China. It worked great for both our needs and all it cost was the $1.50 e-mail transfer fee.)
Hey, yes you can do it. Find a bank with someone who speaks English to go through it, bring all your info, workers permit, passport etc.
FYI, I don't know how long you intend to be in CHina. But what I did was, on a trip home to Vancouver, went to the local ICBC there and set up an account. So I can esily transfer money online from my chinese ICBC to my Canadian ICBC and from there easily dump it into a royal bank or TD or what have you.
Yeah, I was just about to send money online to some family I have in Australia, except I think this Fundfone service is a bank to bank money transfer service. It seems to use mobile for collection of the money.
