94, that's a ripe old age.

I didn't know he was a WW2 veteran. RIP.

The youngest naval aviator in World War II, shot down and shot at, rescued, and returned to combat when he could have stayed stateside. Flew 58 combat missions. Married his best girl, had six children, served his country with dedication and devotion. Tonight he hears the words, 'welcome home, honored guest' and "Bar's been waiting for you...and so has Robin."

Barbara was his wife, she passed 8 months ago.  Robin his baby daughter who passed at age 3 from leukemia.

Stiggs:

When a leader sends his troops to war, whether we agree with the cause or not it's easier to respect his decision if he's actually been there and done it himself.

Losing a daughter at that age must have been awful.

Well, he's in a better place now.

yes, he pissed off Ross Perot and lost a second term, that changed the world in some really bad ways, but a good man.

It's sad to elect presidents in the modern age that never get their hands dirty and don't even know how to drive a car, but that's the world we live in now.

ambivalentmace:

Most people forget the work he did on Aids and Aids research, but protecting kids who had no fault was a weakness or a strenth of his depending on how you look at things.

He lost a daughter to leukemia when she was 3 years old. I think it changed his whole life.

Yup. RIP President Bush.

From an era of people who seen war and death and who knew it was not a video game played for approval points.

An old time conservative who believed in conservative values, but saw sense when tax raises were required to reduce the deficit. For that he deserves praise. Ignored the mantra and did what had to be done.

And he was the core of ex presidents who worked together to try advance humanatrian causes. Him and the peanut farmer Smile.

He deserves a full state funeral for his 70 years of service.

It was interesting to hear that Obama and Michelle visted him just 3 days ago. Statesmen.

I await the great orange ones disparaging tweets.

WW2 veterans are pussies compared to today's self-styled anti-PC warriors

Last time he made the news, it was an alleged groping incident. But hardly a big deal, it's not like he brought a rapist into the Supreme Court to repeal women's rights.

I'm not a conservative by any stretch, but looking back, he was OK.
Much like John McCain at the time. You're thinking "can a politician be any worse?"
Then in retrospect, he wasn't nearly that bad by today's comparisons. Hindsight is 20/20

I thought the same thing about his son: "This guy is the worst, a worse politician could not exist!"
Then in retrospect, his son was a very decent President, too.

I try to set the bar of expectations low, but today's president limbos under that bar like a pro.
He seems like the wiorst politican ever, but if the pattern continues in the future, I shudder to think what will come next. What kind of politician would make Trump look decent by comparison? All hail President OJ Simpson?
