Q: Pumpkin English - Good or bad?

Seen some threads on here in the past about Pumpkin English, and from what I remember, they didn't have a good rep.  Many bad stories etc.

I would like to know as I had an interview with them today.

Cheers

One of the replies to similar Q was: 'What should you think about the School with the name 'Pumpkin' ?

Here is the original reply by Giad:

What did you expect from a company called: "You Well, Pumpkin?" It's like saying, "Hello, Kitty."

Sorry you are having a bad experience with these folks.

It is probably not much different than any other training center. If they serve pumpkin pie, then they are the number one choice.

When I return to America next year, I am going to start a Chinese language school: Stinky Doufu Chinese Language Academy....

GuilinRaf:

Well, in the true spirit of Chinese education, I will pay 4,000RMB a month (that is, when I decide to pay on time).

I will give contradictory instructions and fine the teachers for not following the one I wanted.

I will hire only Asian looking people (Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese,

Laotian, etc.) independently of language ability. After all, my students are paying to see an "Asian face".  If you are Western looking with perfect Mandarin, I may or not hire you to do the book teaching.

Oh, and I will also demand office hours, where you must be seen at the office so that people who come (parents, students, Xerox repair men , etc.) can see that we have "Chinese" (Asian) teachers all the time.

One would have to question the standards of a company that would call itself Pumpkin.

Carl, I don't know if you are an oldie just killing time in China before you meet your Maker and want to make some dough on the side (and be a legal alien, to boot - no pun intended) or if you are young, setting out on a career path, and are resume-building.

If the latter, think about how "Pumpkin English" would look on your resume when it comes time to move on and up in your teaching career.  How would HR and other hiring types perceive the job experience at a skool called Pumpkin English?  I wouldn't be surprised if the resume ended up in the rubbish bin...

Don't wish to discourage your job search, but really, man... Think about it twice or thrice and best wishes.
