2)    Can I work legally on Q1 visa in China?

3)    Can I do business on Q1 visa in China?

1.- With a residence permit, because you are married to a Chinese Lady, you can live legally in China for many years as long as you stay married and renew the permit as indicated as of today.  Tomorrow, I have no idea.

2.- NO !.

3.- NO !

4.- Waiting for September 1 and after go to th Chinese Embassy in your home country and fill out the forms and present required documentation.

Now, why you you want to apply to a Q visa, if you have a renewable residence permit ?

ironman510:

If you're already in China you can apply for this directly in the PSB.

There was a rumor that there would be a spousal visa that you could work on, but it turns out that is false..

I read about the spousal visa.  It's more likely that it has been withdrawn.

WHole policy stinks.

Really? That'll really suck, Divorce rates will climb to new heights becuase we're not able to support our family. Well I guess we shouldn't go that far.

Then I guess for married couples that are married to a Chinese the Q1 visa is worthless to us.

Can you pass us that link where you read about the "Spouse Visa" maybe being gone? Thx

Answer to question 1: you may not live permanently in China. -- You might get a 'permanent residency permit' provided you have been married for at least 5 years. Furthermore, you have to show that out of every year [12 months] you have resided in China for at least 9 months.

ironman510:

Oh you might wanna add one last detail to this:

1. Show you've been married in China for 5 years, as you said.

2. Show a bank statement.

3. MUST BUY A HOUSE IN CHINA! You can put your name and her name on the title. We bought a house in Huizhou.

If you marry a Chinese Lady today, and go to PSB and apply for residence permit for the reason of marriage tomorrow. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE MARRIED 5 Years to do so. Of course, apply when you have the Red Book in your hands.......

@HappyExpat

Do you think after September, We can still go down to the PSB and get resident permits.?

Sorry my reply for mainly pointing to the new Green Cards in China, with regards to the 5 years of marriage.

Ironman510: I do believe that after September 1, you can still go to your local PSB and renew your temp residence permit for the reason of marriage to a local Lady. I have not seen any proposed changes on that one. But, who knows?, maybe they will ask you to go home and request an S-2 visa and then come back and get another permit. But whatever happens, families will not be separated. Central Government will not rock the boat that much.

Thanks for your reply, I feels good to hear that, My Chinese wife wanted me to make a promise like probably many others wives or husbands out here, "always find away to stay together". I need 2 more years to TRY that marriage green card, if thats realistic to acquire someday, I'm on a working permit, but yeah that whole deal with going to the PSB and getting sponsored by my wife to stay on a resident permit was always our backup plan.

So I was a little pissed off when this guy that goes by the user ID: Tigertiger started a false rumor that there MIGHT be some kind of working spousal visa.

I emailed that Law website thats been floating around.

The rumor that you can apply for a spousal visa that allows you to work, maybe on a so called Q1 visa is false.

BUT BUT BUT, I will still hold out for hope that someday married foreigners can work and support their family on a spouse visa.

No harm in hoping right?
