Q: A question about Apple iPhone 4 S for the experts

I am considering buying an Apple iPhone 4S 64 Gb to become my main phone, since mine was stolen a few weeks back.  I have a friend who has a real one, but purchased in China.  I borrowed it, and was able to change language to English.  But when I tried to send a text message, I could only get Chinese characters, could not find a way to change that to Englsih at all.
I am afraid now that if I plunge many kuai into one here, I will encounter the same problem and will end up with a phone that will be useless to send text messages, since I will not be able to write using Chinese characters.
CAn you text English messages with such a cell phone in English?  How and where do you change lanh=guages for text messages ?
Thanks.

Settings>General>Keyboard>International Keyboards>Add English if its not already there..

Believe you know the globe key bottom left.. between key '123' & Siri/Spacebar

suggestion: try to get it from HK.. its ~1000rmb cheaper.
Also 32 should be more than enough i believe.. (still lot of free space for me evenafter giving half the space for use as car DVR)

Apple iOS comes with variety of languages. You just have to add the different keyboards in the keyboard section.
 Steps:
1: Go to settings.
2: General
3:Keyboard
4:International Keyboards
5:Add New Keyboard

You can select as many keyboards as you want.
When typing you can switch the input languages by tapping the "globe" button by the "123"on the bottom left corner of the screen. This  button switches between the input languages you selected in "step 4". In your case you just have to simply tap the button till you see the "English Keyboard'.

There is another way to select the different keyboards.
 Steps:
1: Go to settings.
2: General
3:International
Here you can selecct the interface languages and voice control language, Keyboards, Region Format and the Calender Format.

4: Select Keyboard
5: Add new keyboard
6: Selecet English and you are good to go.

If you can wait ,,the iPhone 5 should be out soon. From what I read the price should be about the same as iPhone 4s

Thakkudu:

i waited like that last year and finally iphone4S which looks exactly like 4!!! :( was fully disappointed And 5 cannot be before fall....means 6 more months wait.. then more wait for the same to be launched in china

I recently bought the Samsung Galaxy Note.  In my opinion, it beats the iPhone 4S hands down.  I got mine in Guangzhou for about 3900RMB.

The phone has a huge screen, front & back cameras, dual processors, and a "smart stylus".  If you have big hands, you may want to give this phone a look.
