Q: Question about exchanging money for international travel...
Apologies in advance if this is a stupid question.
I'm traveling to England in a few weeks (I'm American). I still need to buy a plane ticket and get some British Pounds but I am not sure whether it's better to use my US bank account or my Chinese-- is it better to exchange RMB to GBP or USD to GBP, or does it makes no difference at all?
I only have a basic working knowledge of the money markets/exchange rates, and I don't know how to figure out which currency will give me a better return on my Pounds. Anyone know?

I found cash yuan to be extremely difficult to exchange for a reasonable rate outside of China. In SE Asia you can barely give it away (slight exaggeration).
If you want to use the Chinese account, pull money out of cash machines, don't try to exchange quai.
I guess it comes down to which account you want to deplete - if it's all the same, maybe use the Chinese account to buy your place ticket and the US account for spending money.
