Q: question regarding the renewal of my Residence Permit

Apparently my supervisor is EXTREMELY new at her job, or just super lazy, but...

Is there anything special needed for renewing a residence permit (other than the contract) if I am staying with the same company?

Nothing you can't find out after a few clicks/phone calls but it definitely involves the company doing it unless you can speak Chinese.

The two addresses are: Labor bureau and PSB. Specifics may vary from provinces to provinces so can't tell for sure.

Is it much different from the process of obtaining the original work permit/RP?

RiriRiri:

Short version is:

- Show up at the Labor Bureau with your new 1 year contract and a bunch of other stuff from the company to renew your work permit.

- Show up at the PSB with your updated work permit and a bunch of other stuff from the company to renew your RP.

With all the specifics and in-betweens being dependent on provinces/cities. So, yes, it should be easier, but how easier is hard to tell.

You should go with School's rep. to PSB. Rep. has to supply School's docs. as 'they are authorized for FT hire', signed Contract and few more. If she doesn't know, make her call PSB, and ask what she needs to extend your RP.

You'll need few (one, I think) photo, passport, and FEC.

As I understand, (in Henan) FEC must be obtained/extended first. Then PSB.

You might need new MExam, depend on the Province you'll extend RP.

How difficult is (for her) to call PSB (or SAFEA), and find out extension procedure?

You could ring SAFEA, and ask about it too, but that's school's duty. I've never inquire about that.

I've renewed 4 times already and my impression of the whole affair is that it's a conundrum inside a puzzle wrapped in a mystery.  Sorry that that's all I can offer.

But the fellas above both speak serious sense, esp the part it's the new girl's responsibility.

your company HR staff should take care of it.

Actually it is really simple. first renew your work permit or foreign expert license.  doesnt need to show up personally . 2nd renew the resident permit in psb. with all the documents filled. waiting for 15 working days. voila, you will get the new resident permit.
