Q: Is the racism here more prevelent amongst the poor?

Lack of education and easy manipulation (mentally challenged) is always the cause of stupid views.  How is China any different from the west other than more poor people?

I have met many people in the west (OK the US) that are just as bad or worse with their ignorance and xenophobia.

I wouldn't say so, if anything the poor are so looked down on by everyone else they seem the quickest to accept anyone who has a friendly word for them.

thedude,

I originate from the West Midlands of the UK a strongly mixed race area, and the number of immigrants to that area has hugely increased in the 32 years since I left, (my parents lived there until their deaths so I visited on a regular basis). However there is relatively little racism.

The same can be said of many other areas in the UK, (I obviously cannot comment on the USA), the poor aren't as prone to racism as many would believe. However, a couple of years back the BNP (British National Party, avowedly racist) had their website hacked and their membership list was leaked online. There was an enormously above average percentage of upper middle class, lawyers, teachers and such professionals. Now whether that is due to the propaganda tabloid press the UK working classes tend to read, (Wow how about that for a huge sweeping statement) or that they are just too busy trying to make a living I genuinely don't know, but I do find the demographics of racism interesting.

Always less educated people are more extreme in their believes (of any nature You can name: politics, religion, nationalism, racism...).

And this goes for all societies in China, USA, Europe... etc. Off course proportionally to average of society.

indecision

simple question to many of one race that is why there are so many, they do not deal with differences then they do not accept them simple they have no reason not to be.

(Poor = less foreigners)= high Racism percent’s.

P.S

That is why the U.S rocks we have so many different race’s being racist is just stupid and counterproductive.

Well I dont know if they are more racist than their more affluent/educated ones. They certainly dont have much exposure to outsiders and are therefore more prone to just accept the run of the mill stereotypes because they have nothing else to base their opinion on. and I have heard some pretty retarded and racist views from educated people in the cities.
