Residence permits allow a foreigner to reside in China legally. Duration for the permit is dependent on the purpose of your stay here. If you are legally employed, your employer will need to apply for you at the local PSB together with your work permit or FEC.

You can use the above link to check the type of visa you require.

First, you must get Z visa in Chinese Embassy in your home country (or Hong Kong, if you're lucky).

Z visa expire in 3 months after was issued, or 'you have 3 months to enter China.

Z visa get replaced with Residence permit in 30 days after your arrival, and usually last till the end of your Contract.

A bit of a strange question! I'm from the UK & a non-EU citizen would need a visa to work & live there. The majority of countries have visa restrictions for foreigners so why should china be any different?

as to how to get one......try google or search this sites forums instead of asking questions that have been answered 100's of times (there is even a section dedicated to visas!)

ironman510:

If you're going to cry online then please remember to capitalize the starting word in a sentence and also capitalize your "i"... Maybe after you master this skill you can then ask us about the resident permits because you're clearly not ready for a FEC or resident permit.

I had lots of women (I note you said "a women", singular is "a woman" btw) in England but since my divorce none that I wanted to marry. Seeing as you know I'm getting married you'll also have noticed from my posts that my wife to be isn't my first girlfriend in China. Never had a problem there mate, are you projecting your lack of luck with women onto me?

Oooh, seems I touched a nerve with poor John....you're definitely not good in the mornings are you. Where to start in reply.....

I'm normally helpful on this site as I've found a lot of other people are but some questions are just lazy. Your's wasn't even a question as you missed "?" off the end of the title.

I've just re-read my first reply and apart from thinking you'd asked a strange question my reply actually wasn't that bad. As I said...the majority of countries have visa rules for non-natives so why should China be any different?

You know, I can't really be arsed with this. I'll go back to replying nicely to reasonable questions and ignored stupid ones from people like you. Bye.....

ChengduPat:

Have to agree. R-e-s-i-d-e-n-c-e p-e-r-m-i-t, permits residence, it couldn't be more comprehensive by the name itself - no offense intended, just leads me onto the point I wanted to make.

Anyway, my observation is that there are many 'strange' questions here lately, are people trying to bump down specific previous questions. Questions leading to yeah yeah I know a guy - useless tripe, with a few answers to attempt to bump it up. Also, what's with all the new replies here, why not comment, bumps up the post I guess. Aggression would also facilitate more posts. That's where I'll leave it, thank you..
