Q: Relationships based on luxury?

For those of you in relationships, do you feel that your boyfriend/girlfriend or husband/wife demands more of you in terms of money and luxury items in China than in other places/cultures?

When I am into what I understand it is a "relationship", my interest lies on making the other member happy, and when she is happy then I am happy too.  And in turn, she will do the same for me.  So, in a "true relationship", there is no "demanding", or forcing, or blackmailing done.

And, to me, culture has nothing to do with it.  Maybe here in China it took a few more words and a few more days of long conversations to get my point across.  But once it did, at least with my present GF I must say that after 15 months of being together, we both are extremely happy.  And as she has told me, she has never felt so relaxed, happy and worried free in her life.

All other types or relationships I call them by a different name, in my mind they are business arrangements.

And yes, I have ,made it clear that I am well off, but I am not a millionaire.  So, there are limits to what I can do.  And even more surprising, she is not into luxury items at all.
