What requisites or documents do I need once I go to the police station to register? I'm coming back from Hong Kong with my 6 months business visa! Hope someone can advise me! Thanks!

You need your passport/visa and proof of residence (e.g. rental contract)
(note, as in all other cases in China, local differences might exist)
You need a passport and a valid visa... but remember, you must register within 24 hours of entering China.
I remember once i came on a business visa with single entry which allows you to stay 30 days after entry, and anyhow my duration of staying was going to be longer than 30 days..due to some business negotiation and product testing..
So i went to local visa issuing authority to increase my visa validity..
Their first requirement was to register myself in the local police station..
I went police station with one of the staff of my Supplier...they just asked my address of China (I gave my hotel address) and register myself within 5 minutes...they gave me one copy of registration and kept one with themselves..
But whenever I come to China..it has been written on the Immigration form that we have to register within the 24 hours after arrival in China..
I exit and entered China more than 20 times but i never registered myself..only once i registered when there was a need of extending my F Visa..
cooter:
If you're staying in a hotel, they will (or at least are supposed to...) register you with the police.
You will need when registering for the first time:
-your passport and one copy of the following pages on it. The one with you information and photo, the one with the visa and the one with the layest entry stamps. Mke sure each page is copied in a separate paper
- 2 x 2 photo ID looking at camera without glasses (prescribed glasses OK, others no). Just in case, have more than one available.
- If you rent an apartment, original and copy of rental agreement, if you own one the Certificate of Ownership and a copy. If rent, a copy of the owner's ID card, plus his/her name, address and phone number.
and please, they do not bite, it is free and pretty fast, pay no attention to those that claim that there is no need to do it. If you are caught without it, you will suffer the consequences.
