Q: Residence permit question

Picked up my Z visa today!  I came last year on an X visa and converted it.

When I apply for my new RP at the PSB, do I need to bring a copy of my lease and my contract?  If my lease, will my RP only be the length remaining on the lease?   Or is the RP good for the length of the contract?  Also, will I need to get another health certification, or can I just submit a copy of the paperwork that I used for my visa application?

Did you get Z in HK? If 'yes', you'll probably have to do another MExam in China.

Your School should take you to PSB for RPermit. They know, what docs. you need for RP.

I always brought just my passport and few photos to PSB. Rest of the docs., School had to submit.

Spiderboenz:

So to be clear, the RP is tied to the CONTRACT length, and not to the rental lease length?

Yes, PSB will give you RP till the end of your Contract. Then, you can get another 30 days extension (for finding new job or returning home/exiting China). Rental lease isn't necessary for RP as I know.

New from September last year: We needed our apartment registration from our local PSB before going to the main PSB for the resident permit renewal. And before we could get the registration we needed show our local PSB our rental contract with the owner. Not sure if you guys had to go through this but we did.

I'm heading to HK next week for Z. I wasn't sure, if it's still possible to get Z in HK.

I don't know about rental lease, because I always have grant apartment, and School might need to show that for RP. I never even saw rental agreement in China.

@ironman, im also in shenzhen but waaaay out innthe boonies. Anyways the last 2 years, theu didnt even look at my rental contract. Which was nice because i dont have one. My landlord is cool and we didnt make a new one after the first one ran out. I was worried at the psb as i forgot about the rental contract untill i walked in but they didnt check.

use the leasing contract to apply for temporary resident form for foreigner at local psb which is in charge of your living neighborhood.

2 you can use the health report in the psb only if the report is still valid, usually it is half year.

3 the health report needs to be original.

Hope it helps.

Do you have any feedback Spiderboenz?

It would be interesting to hear what procedure you had to do.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
