Q: RP and FEC expiration
Just wondering what happens if your FEC expires before your RP? (mine does...nothing, just work away on the back of RP?)
and
What happens when your RP expires? (do you automatically get a tourist visa at PSB or must you leave before it expires?...need to pick up my flight allowance...)

FEC = Foreign Expert Certificate
RP = Residence Permit

I've never heard of a FEC expiry date. That FEC is used to prove that you are qualified..

Mmm, I'm looking at my FEC from shenzhen, no expirey date at the bottom, just a bunch of pages with my picture and stamps in a red book..

There is 'issue' and 'expiration' date on the same (next) page as your photo.
Text started with title 'Employer', 'Work position in China', and so on. FEC issued in Xinjiang.

My FEC expires in April and RP in June..can visualise the FEC fading away into oblivion and the RP taking command (officially) as the next in line.
You must go to the PSB to change your visa before it expires. If you get a job before then the school will probably help you do that. Your RP is valid in the province you acquired it in.
This year I had my FEC canceled at one school because I was sent to another school. The FEC is valid for the school/workplace you are in. I had to get a new FEC for the new school I went to. Your employer/school will cancel your FEC when you stop working regardless of the length of your contract and/or RP. So don't worry about your FEC.

Thanks Donnie, my issue is that my RP expires before my contract ends!Like 20 days before. That's when my passport expires. I will get a new passport. But the fact remains that my RP expires before contract expires. 10 working days is hardly worth renewing everything. Also, I intend to bounce out of here. But I want to collect my flight allowance.
But, like if you are changing a job the PSB give you 30 days grace or whatever it is...will this happen in my case?
Show them new passport and walah there's your 30 days in new passport, I can then tie up loose ends.
Any thoughts appreciated (forget about the FEC!..it's not even in my possession)
