Q: Sad news for Guilin today, I'm going home.

Guilin lost one of it's favourite foreigners today, when TedDBayer went home. There will be nothing for the locals to talk about now.

The news came after a firecracker ceremony and the buying of a ticket outa town. I don't want to go home, but have to. I'll be back.

Well TED, what can we say?.   Good luck to you, solve the problems back home, and do come back.  We shall miss you.

PS: I am beginning to think Matty is back under another "personality", thumbs down are returning again. Just gave you one up to cancel the one given.

As I saw, it went from about 7200 points to 1 after "gaining " about 500 in one evening somehow. Last time I checked it was at 8 points.

Have a good time back home Ted.  Don't think of it as time away from China, but as a chance to tell your stories, recharge your batteries and refresh your mind on the dichotomies between your home and China.  And of course, a chance to delve into some really great beers.

I was up all day before I left, only had a couple of naps of the trip home, took 36 hours to get home. I got home at 10pm local time. I had a house sitter who in exchange for looking after my property, 7 cats and dog, got a free house to live in. I didn't get a visa for my girl friend to come with me, good thing. One of my friends was supposed to drop in, and the house sitter had calling cards to call if something wasn't right. I came home to find the house sitter complaining that my cats were peeing and crapping every where. The litter wasn't clean and the mess wasn't cleaned up. so I've been cleaned for 5 hours. My friend came over to help cut some of the grass ( 4 acres) don't think it was ever done. The grass and weeds around the house is almost 4' high. The garbage hasn't been put out in 6 months. My dog and cats are full of knots. One cat wasn't eating and died this morning, never went to the Vet. My property has a junk car and a ton of crap sitting in front of it and crap all over the house. The sump pump quit working, the basement flooded, a pipe is leaked and 2 basement rooms have wall and ceiling damage and no pipe repair.  My house isn't very old and before I left I freshened the place up, painted. Am I glad I didn't bring someone home. I told my girl friend I had a nice house.I don't know what I'll do if I want to go back to China in 2 or 4 months. House sitters suck.

Jnusb416:

That's really unfortunate. I wouldn't say that all house sitters suck. I at least wouldn't let an animal die, that's horrible! Too bad you don't live near me, if something went wrong and I didn't know what to do, I'd ask my dad. My sister is currently house sitting her friend's house, although she can't be there 24/7 because she has a job. But this weekend she went out really early and stayed the night to look after their puppy. Sorry you had to go home to that, makes me sad.

Since my Gf didn't get a visa, I have some legal stuff to deal with at home and i was hoping to finish my 1938 Chevy hot rod and sell it. Now I'll probably spend months repairing the house. I cleaned the carpet and floors. they smell, have to rip them out, the finished basement has black mold, dry wall and trim ruined. I'll have to gut everything and redo it all. I don't think insurance will cover neglect. 4 acres of lawn, mostly not cut, I started cutting that today and have to rake it all. I'm going to need alot of beer. Jnusb , what does your sister look like? LOL
