Q: SAFEA helps resolve case: Mediation in favor of the FT

I want to post this to give other foreign teachers in China hope if they are struggling with dishonest bosses.
Short story: SAFEA helped me get the money back my former boss stole from my paychecks.

Long story:
I worked in Chifeng, Inner Mongolia for 1 year at Candy English.
After 6 months there of them taking salary every month and accusing me of various things like 'breaking school rules' and 'fighting others' (with no proof I might add) I went to the Hohhot bureau for the first time.
Her reasoning was I broke school rules, but none of the ridiculous new rules she had were in my ORIGINAL contract, nor SIGNED by me.

After reporting everything to them, they told us to sit down and reach an agreement: Do I stay and finish the contract, or does she give me paperwork to let me transfer jobs because SHE broke the contract?

I agreed to stay out of stupidity and misplaced faith in her honesty.

6 more months of her taking 2000 RMB a month from my salary ensued and I finally finished my contract.
Her reasoning was because I "caused her trouble" by telling the bureau.
Then, she refused to pay the last 15 days of work that I did (and kept trying to delay paperwork).
This brought it to a total of 14000+6500RMB that she owed me.

During my whole contract I constantly gathered proof of her breaking the contract, gathered stamped pay stubs and 'disciplinary sheets', and gathered info on her illegal teachers as well.
When it was time to leave, I submitted all of my proof to the bureau
(including video proof of her saying she won't give me the FEC cancelation receipt, Recommendation Letter, and Release Letter)

In the end, the SAFEA bureau helped me mediate and I got my paperwork to transfer jobs.
Now, my former boss Candy also agreed to sign an agreement to end our dispute peacefully and pay me 20500 RMB as compensation.

A sweet victory for foreign teachers in China: Justice can be served!

A: Chinese are generally pretty tolerant friendly and accepting whatever
A:Chinese are generally pretty tolerant friendly and accepting whatever foreigners do.  I spent 15 years in China but I wouldn't say there are that many don'ts....Don't assume that many people speak English though and learn some Chinese. Don't speak much about politics unless you want to praise Chinese system.  -- Natalie363
