Q: School doesn't want me to leave

I've decided to leave the my school. Gave them 30 days notice, they refused to give me release letter  and are not going to cancel my RP and safa book.

Contract - is a piece of paper without company's name or seals,  probably it is illegal school, but they have some connections at the police office.  how can I threat them to get all my docs? All the payments were in the envelopes of course.

Or how can I shut this school down? (. There are 6 teachers, all of us want to leave this hell)

How did you end up working illegally in the first place? When you took the job you would have thought of the consequences, no? And how is it possible that an illegal school issue you Visa, RP and FEC? Your question don't make sense.

Englteachted:

I think this and the other poster are some how trolls. When the CFTU is active there seems to  be a lot of these type of posts. A stamped contract  is required for the FEC.

@Engl: 'my new Kaifeng school returned my signed Contract with stamp and dean's signature. This is the 1st Contract in 5Y in China, I received back from the School with seal.'

So I guessed, School just present to SAFEA Contract with my signature, only. I never saw or received Contract with School's seal.

I didn't get letters as of yet! School is keep adding their requirements, as 'we'll give it to you, if you leave your apartment clean....', but Fujian SAFEA offered me help, if School won't give it to me before Tue.'s departure. No 'good relations' here! We 'nickle&dime' each other.

Why did you sign a contract which by your own admissions now looks more than a tad dodgy? That wasn't a very smart move now, was it?

Contact Foreign Expert Bureau in your city/Province.

Type 'SAFEA" in search above for contact numbers and address, and ask them for advice.

Contract in China doesn't need to have School's stamp and signature, to be valid.

Signed contract (by FT) must be presented to SAFEA, before Foreign Expert Certificate is issued, and if SAFEA grant FEC, contract is valid and binding for both sides, School and FT.

This is the correct advice.

On thursday last I attended an interview, for a school who contacted me. I arrived at the school at 9 am as agreed. From the outlook the school looked amazing, very impressive, the equipment and facilities provided for the small student were seconded to none, they even provided an USA yellow style type bus, the classroom's were all very big and bright, even a small swimming pool. The proprietor owned 3 such establishment. The downfall was that the educator had to leap from school to school throughout the day Monday to Friday. And payment of 12500 rmb pm, was 'ONLY' by cash in hand. Any contract had to be imaginary and invisible for  period of 2 years. Well thank you but NO thanks. Personally as soon as I was told this I took my leave, with them on my heels still pleading for me to start the next morning and making all sorts of promises and guaranties. Unfortunately as like many we learn many things as we go along, and I was not prepare to let anyone have a noose around my neck. Dangling the 12500 pm carrot in front of me didn't work. So I can't understand you signing a contract that just seem to be a worthless piece of paper. Whatever the reasons, hope you get it sorted.

Contact SAFEA, inform them that you submitted resignation, but that school isn't doing what they should.

I assume you want to stay in China and work somewhere else. If that's the case and you have a better (legit) job lined up your new school might be able to put pressure on the old school. I've seen it happen, a call to the old school saying "we are ____ school in ____ city licensed to hire foreign teachers and the PSB here is waiting for you to provide the release letter and cancel the RP as is required BY LAW so they can proceed with the visa stuff. No school, dodgy or otherwise, wants to get in a pissing match with the PSB.

icnif77:

PSB will direct you to your Embassy for all required docs. and last pay, like they did to me in Dalian.

School provided me all necessary documents, legit z visa ....  they promised to put a seal in 1 week... But of course didn't do it...  I didnt have any others cases to argue about. After 6 months many bad things happened..

7 teachers left the school since the time i've asked for a help, and none of them got any release letters.. Some of the teachers went to the local psb, some went to the journalists, even wrote the letter to the governor in Chinese as well as in English. The owner has very good "friends" . Those teachers cant apply for the new visas, because embassies demand that stupid paper...and some of the Ex - teachers are still titled to this company...

it sounds too funny or stupid, but this school maybe is not even official school. They dont have any advertisement, there is private company's name on the bank card receipts...

i know that they have a license to invite foreigners.. But maybe only as a recruit agency.. However you call them

I can admit, that my life here became much better, because they lost too many teachers, and now they try to please me , that I'd stay here till the end of my contract .. ( it's 1,5 year contract).  But even if i'll stay here till the end, i know they wouldn't  give me any papers... And it would be much more difficult for me to come back to China.

So still don't know what to do

Not only is the story dodgy but the english is dodgy. My guess is that this is a fairly proficient chinese student practicing his english.

If Grizzly is indeed a foreign teacher, he is a semi-literate moron who got his just deserts and should be grateful for a job that doesn't require him to monitor a fries timer.

在你市联络外国专家局。

'Here is my reply in Chinese, if you (too) don't understand my English.'

That's my mum's headingangel.

What subject do you teach! Your written grammar sucks. So I guess your spoken English is at an equivalent level.' Kermit the Frog'
