Q: Selfies - your take on them?
Getting past that initial pun, I am so not a fan of them - not for myself, nor having my WeiXin clogged up with dozens of photos of "look at me, look at me!!!"
There's a strong tendency for them mainly to be Chinese girls, but I do note a certain amount of non-Chinese as well (however, I'd also suggest it's about 90% female- and not so many guys).
Now, don't get my wrong - I do like to look at pretty girls. But when there's so damn many of just some silly pout, or "Look, I'm on a train... now I"m on the platform - now I'm sitting down... now I'm sitting down with my head slightly tilted... now I'm sitting down with my head tilted in a different way.... now I"m sitting down with my head tilted in the first way, but I'm doing rabbit ears".... it's pretty annoying!
(they should at least be naked!)

If girls take selfies, they should never ever complain about being objectified by guys.

I do 'foodies' (my newly-formed word referring to photos of food, rather than self...).
However, it's on those rare occasions when I visit a nice restaurant that's not a normal part of my life... Indian, Greek, Thai, etc...
Is that ok??

Hey, foodies of unusual stuff is great. It's just the endless same noodle photos I get fed up with, same as I get fed up eating noodles.

Yeah I understand taking a pic of something unusual , in fact I have a small circle of fiends where it's almost your duty to let the others know if you find a place that does a good steak or whatever. This is prized intel if you're a foodie.

Funny you asked, I was thinking about the same thing, this one Girl... would have at least 30 -50 updates daily, starting from the picture of the bed to the picture of the bed in the end of day.. quite literally. These are not just selfies, It's also look at my hand, look at my other hand, pictures of the phone from which she is taking the pictures, picture of her shadow, picture of the shadow of the phone... Ah I could go on and on.
maybe I should delete her, but she is just too damn cute!
i enjoy watching girls on my wechat taking selfies with their faces blew like balloons at strictly 45 degree upper angle, like they must be graduated from the same selfie taking class.
Honestly, Facebook is full of such selfies too, and here in France, teenage girl are quite into take pics of themselves too. I prefer landscapes without people on them, but maybe it's because I'm an old fart.
Self-indulgent, ego-centric, pre-pubescent nonsense. Unless you are really drunk and making a retarded face - then it's okay.
I do not take selfies (too often). But, I have taken pictures and videos of others doing it so i can post on my blog and get people to laugh at how silly and stupid they look. I love the ones where they are looking up at the ceiling and trying to make their face look smaller and their eyes bigger. That is always a good one for a laugh.
