Q: Seriously, why are so many animals, birds and fish dying in China lately?

In addition to the pig and duck scandal, there are now reports of dead fish, peacocks and birds in places as varied as Beijing and Hong Kong. What's going on?!

That can't be a surprise. China isn't exactly Lady "Clean Air" and "Non Polluted Water". Especially Beijing and Hong Kong.

To give the cynical laowais something to gossip about

crimochina:

gossip means talking about the private lives of others. are you saying news information is private and should be kept secret?

JustinF:

no, I am saying that laowais would again start cynical conversations about chinese and china while making sure nobody is listening.

if some chinese comes in, the laowais would immediately change the conversation and go like "oh, come sit down! your country is so nice, I love the culture, so much good food!"

I think the real question is, why are we not hearing more stories like this.

"If you've eaten pig in China you have eaten dead pig"

I am sure there are many farmers that let a sick pig get butchered as this would mean more profit for them.
