Q: Is Sex and the City popular in China?

Do girls (because really, which self-respecting Chinese guys would) watch this here or not at all?

I bought the DVD set for my wife and she didn't get much sleep at all for weeks because she was addicted to watching them.  Then she started passing the DVDs around to her friends and they all fell in love with them too.  Of course, my wife is (looking both ways to make sure she isn't around...) part of the older crowd so I can't say if the younger generation would like them or not.

I've never heard any of my female students mention the series when we have gone over American T.V. shows. The most often watched one is "Friends." Others include "Big Bang Theory," "The Vampire Diaries," and a few have watched "Seinfeld," but no "Sex in the City." That doesn't mean they are necessarily not watching it, it just means they are not admitting to it in class. cheeky

I agree with giadrosich, but I'd add that they also watch Gossip Girl.

"Do girls (because really, which self-respecting Chinese guys would) watch this here or not at all?" her question is narrow minded serious. She thinks self-respecting guys should not watch that show? wtf crazy.

I love that show and a lot of people do.

Foex example: A lot of men love watching porn, it has nothing to do with self-respecting. Even good man has needs, lol.

Hotwater:

Vicky, you are NOT a self-respecting GUY so how would you know if we’d watch that shit or not?

A:Good question!  I'd say, if you study at Uni in China beside working full-time as an E.T. with Residence permit, you don't interfere with your full-time employment. It's your free time and you can do anything you want, with respect to the Chinese laws and customs. Have a look at terms of Z visa/Residence permit and ... ".. you cannot work (and earn monies!) with another employer ..."That's all it is! Your RP sponsor title is written on the RP stamp in your passport, I think. It's in Mandarin, so I've heard about that from someone ...At I.D.-ing by cops, they know where you work and than more details about you are just a phone call away ... and it happened in person ... LOL ... during the day-time stroll through Wulumuqi, Xinjiang, 2012/13 semester. Now under RP, you're free to surf Internet, jog, ... and study, too. I suggest, you look and ask at the Uni, you plan to study in the future. Have a detailed look at requirements for studying and attending chosen Uni.Good luck! -- icnif77
