Q: Shenzhen the capital of fakes and scams?

I heard that Shenzhen was the Chinese capital of fake products. I saw fake BMW brands, etc...and when I talked to people about it there, they were extremely sensitive about it.

They flared up about how Chinese had to start a business somewhere, etc...

So...is Shenzhen an exception, or do these 'luxury fakes' companies sprout everywhere in China?

That is a blatant case of misinformation! It's not because it's cheap that it is fake. A lot of product are made in China so it's normal it's cheaper here. But most of the time, the product is shipped without some finishing touch, so yeah the quality may differ, the logo might be absent or different. You can't call it a fake, although it's not exactly the 'original'.

Take my iPhone 4 that i got for 700 RMB. The phone part works absolutely well, but I have some trouble with the app store and some apps. At first, i went back to the store and asked the vendor about my troubles. he told me it was normal, as the app store is an american addon that is done after the iPhone is shipped from factory. I could do it if i called Apple but the american section because mine was probable destined to be sold in 'merica so the serial number wouldnt be eligible for Chinese help support.

At first i was skeptic about that mumbo jumo, so i looked at him straight in the eyes and said in a very deep voice : "This is too beaucoup story. You tell me whole truth now, mister".

He then stared down and said he sold me the phone as a 700RMB one but it's actually the 550RMB, so it has less quality check before hitting the store. He did it because he didnt have any 700RMB available. He promised to replace my iPhone when the next shipment arrive, in 3 months. He told me the limited production makes it harder to get 700RMB iPhones, so it makes a moar prized item.

Still counting the weeks before i get my new iPhone! Smile

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
