Q: Shipping companies for moving back to the US?
There's a high probability that we might be called back to the US shortly. I may be jumping the gun a little (I'm super excited at the possibility of going home!) but I was wondering if anyone knew any decent shipping companies - reasonably priced. I've done some research on the net but didn't find anything useful.

How much do you have to move?
You could get a 20' container shipped back stateside with someone like Hapag Lloyd if you have alot of stuff. It would probably cost you the same as shipping 10 big boxes by slowboat with UPS. They would handle the customs forms too, for a small fee.
Just use China Post or UPS. I'm not sure if they have fedex here but the three companies I used in the states which were Fedex, UPS and the US Postal. I would probably use the same thing here as well. China Post will definitely ship for you at a reasonable price.

China Post is the most expensive shipping company in China. Never use it for anything!
Have a Chinese friend look online for you. There are some really good, fast and inexpensive, companies that will ship your stuff to Shenzhen and then use an international shipper to save you time and money.
One thing I have learned from moving many times in my life, both domestic and overseas, is to select a moving company AT THE CITY I WILL END UP IN. The reason for this is that they will be the primary contractor, and as such, responsible for any claims that may arise. And I rather deal in person when those things happen than over the phone or thru letters.
So, if I were you, once you know to which city you will move back home to, contact a company there and ask them if they have a correspondant in China to handle your packing and loading goods here, freight forwarder, etc, and if they do, and have a good reputation, go with them.
One last thing, if you are moving household goods, do not use China Post or UPS as suggested. Large items, also heavy, will cost more by using them. Remember, a 20 ft container is charged by volume, not weigth. From China to USA, depending on which city at either end, should be close to $ 3500 US dollars for a 20 ft container.
I refuse UPS. If i order something at home from outside the country, they charge a brokerage fee on everything. In Canada you only get $20 free import, where USA get $200. UPS dinged me once for something I paid $19 for, they valued it at $20.01 , added a $25 brokerage fee and taxes. They are just crazy to deal with. I refused that shipment
I'd be afraid of what they would charge in brokerage fees.
