Obviously foreigners caused the cultural revolution because they wanted to make China poor and they were jealous of China's 15,000 year history. How much should foreigners pay China for all those museums, universities, traditional buildings and libraries they destroyed, and for all those Chinese scholars they disappeared?
Personally, I consider it fairly obvious that foreigners caused China to be a poor, third-world country, and it is an insult and outrage that foreign countries don't give China billions of dollars right now.
Wait, is it 4999.99 years or 15,000 years?
GuilinRaf:
You both dont know nothin'! China pre-dates the Universe.
jknox00:
I do believe it is now 15,000 but the author posted this a few days ago so it is now 15,400 year history.
Which makes me even MORE jealous of China.
wrote a really long answer but I changed my mind..............sort of
I would love to respond but it would just be a really long rant. The Chinese believe the world owes them everything, being American/Canadian I would have to say the only country that is more arrogant than America is CHINA
Well, the Saxons are STILL waiting for the Normans to pay reparations since October 1066...
No, I will never return the museums and intellectuals that I stole. If China wants them back they it will have to go to my house and drag them out of my basement.
Well, seeing as how those things were mostly done by the Red Guards (read: CHINESE university students) I'm going to say...NO
Kchur, you are absolutely right. China is unique in this world. They did nothing wrong and yet 8 countries invaded China all at once. It was these Western powers that really forced rebellions to happen and made China have to have a cultural revolution. As well as all the consequences.
Let's face it, westerners looted China's treasures and to this day are still holding a lot of the stolen loot in Taiwan (another part of China westerners are controlling now AND forcing into problems).
And obviously, what happens is that people felt very jealous of China's 16,000 year history. Naturally, when we feel very jealous we then decide to hurt them as much as we felt 'jealousy hurt'. So then we can be 'even' in status.
[as we all know this is a western mentality]
So yes, we really do owe China billions upon billions of dollars, all the treasures we took as well as the scholars and thinkers we stole from them. And a billion dollars worth of food for the mass starvation that wouldn't have happened if not for Western powers, Japanese and South Koreans.
And all the Starlings we killed. And toilets we denied them.
The only dilemma here? I'm not sure what we do about Chinese who enjoyed tremendous benefits, wealth, privilege and lived in high-status positions as a result of the 'Jealousy Invasions'?
Do they have to repay China or are they 'traitors' or what about them?
Yeh, I must be missing something here (oop, there it is, a decent education) but wasn't the Cultural Revolution a solely Chinese undertaking? I'm not sure if you're trying to pick a fight, commenting ironically on a Chinese belief about said revolution that I was not aware existed, or.......................a third one. What am I missing here? It's that first thing, isn't it? The education thing.
jknox00:
Apparently, the cultural revolution was Chinese yes.. but they were forced to do it as a result of foreigners pushing them into a 'no choice' option. Mainly out of jealousy of China's 16,500 year history.
mArtiAn:
Ok, on the one hand I think you're joking 'cause you said 16000 year history last time, or maybe you're just joking about that, but on the other hand, what? China was forced into revolution because some other countries were jealous??? I'm genuinely interested, can you recommend me to any source that can verify that notion, I find it utterly absurd. And please don't say 'tomato source', i'd say that.
jknox00:
The OP is just having a poke at a common rhetoric heard in China. For whatever reason the idea of foreigners 'forcing China' to do everything and taking everything from China is blamed on jealousy of China's 17,000 year old history. Which is of course what makes other countries so angry.
Something that is not mentioned too often: Long before any foreigners showed up (and after) China has had plenty of civil wars, revolutions and even a few evil Emperors.
One thing I had always found interesting was listening to old films put out by the CIA where their primary complaint was that theyCOULD NOT control China, find influence, found it extremely difficult to buy their way in, negotiate, or trade influence and power in China.
This was maybe one of the primary complaints foreigners have always had about China.
And if you have a Chinese wife you may understand, all too well, why you CANNOT influence or negotiate but you WILL be 100% to blame for anything that goes wrong. And also you are probably jealous. Or you should be. After all, you attacked them.
mArtiAn:
Yeh, about the only thing I understood was the bit about China's 18,000 year history, everything else flies way over my head i'm afraid to say.
Wrong about the wife though.
you steal Chinas 20.000 year history you pay
Dr Evil in 1 million Dollars - YouTube
that is wright we stole the other 4000 years to
Yeah, pay them back in chips, (fries to the Americans), and make Mandarin the mandatory international language, or if they're feeling nice to us, we can take up Latin instead.
P.S. Who was Donald Duck's English teacher? I want to discuss pronunciation drills with him / her.
GuilinRaf:
Donald Duck has a speech impediment due to his lack of teeth. That is what causes him to lisp.
As to the tone, well, apparently in his youth he ingested too many chemicals. Namely: helium, just like the Bee gees...
