second i asked the question to get advice from older people who have bean in the fields i am interested in, and have practical experience to share hence the site.

third it  just sounds insincere like your avoiding giving any answer that cold go  against anyones opinions while trying to sound sensitive.

forth rock the bout do something productive and do not follow a formula, i have a family to hug me and tell me to follow my dreams.

I don't know your nationality, but in the UK the benefits of a full service commission are huge, a short service commission you are really working your butt off just to get the grades to give you the chance of going full service. Plus the pension benefits are considerably greater.

Your life your choice, but I'd seriously consider full service commission, military life isn't like a designer jacket you can just put on and take off, it's like having a tattoo on your psyche, it sticks.

military serving is not about gaining it is about giving, a wise man from my courtly once said ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for it. i do not know where you are so i wont judge but in my county has spent most of its existence so the military is very important.

Well, it seems that you already know what you want to do. If I am not wrong you want to do the military service. Then go for it. As I said I will not add comments to why I don't believe is such a good idea. It is important you to learn to understand what you want. I know you may want to do many more things at the same time.Enrolling in the military service it will give you the chance to serve your country and the country will serve you with education. The military carrier it's sort of many-offers pack. You can even get promoted, have a family and any postgraduate degrees within the army. Does it help you or does it make sense to you?

Jiliu... when you look at all those wars (and I notice that it misses out on other military operations - such as aiding Pinochet and Hussein, though it mentions 'proxy war' in Afghanistan ..ie, aiding the Taliban), are you sure you want to fight for a government that keeps getting into wars (particularly ones not on its own territory???

It's not about 'giving to your country', it's about deciding what's right for your country (and yourself). There's a huge difference between signing up to be put into a force that would send you to the other side of the world, to help... do whatever, and joining once your country is actually threatened! (and, if you're going in for the education, hell yeah you're going to be sent overseas!)

Do you think all those wars -- and obviously in particular, the most recent ones, were 100% justified?

Shining. I think the intention of the post from the beginning was to highlight how very, very, very bad America is because of all it's wars. It was always just another of the many posts that was always going to go along that line.

What China should remember is that America, with it's experienced military, was able to liberate China from the Japanese during WWII, and that America can now protect Japan and SE Asian countries from aggression by China, if needed.

The OP should also look carefully at China's continued aggression and invasion of it's neighbours, particularly Tibet and Xinjiang, and the use of it's military to kill unarmed Chinese civilians, such as June 1989.
