12 years 1 week ago in Web & Technology - Chengdu
I got "SWITCHVPN" before I left home and their tech set it up for me on my computer online, I think I paid $70 for it for the year.,, works good, was one of the cheapest I found.
When I first came here I tried to install a paid VPN without luck. Granted I am not an IT guy, but I am also not a moron with computers.
I installed it when I went home and now it works fine in China.
I would do it before you leave, IMO.

I was wondering if it would difficult to do it in China, but I know at lot of you all and locals have one. So thanks.. I will do that for sure.
I was able to set up the one through echinacities while in China. It's not hard to do, I just didn't know how, and had to use the site for help.
Before. why? Because theres a really good free one but you cant download it in China. Anyone that is paying for a vpn has made a mistake. last time i wrote the name on here people freaked out and said China would block it. Anyway the name starts with "Free" so go do a bit of research and I'm sure you'll find it. DONT PAY FOR ONE, not where theres a free one thats just as good
Before - it's a lot easier and hassle-free. Some sites you won't have access to here, so you won't be able to get them. Hence, before!
I will get my 2000 points up by the end of the week. Can I set up the one I will get from here while I am currently in Australia? I am returning to China in two weeks so want to be set up before hand.
i think if you are using vpn can open in china.that it is no need to install is before.but if it can not open in China.so you must install it before. You can install it firstly in case.
Free one doesn't work as well as a paid one...if you need to upload and download it'll be muuuch slower...other than that ok...have compared both
Definitely before, and test it out to be sure it works. Even if the VPN turns out to be slow and craptastic, at least you have a VPN to go to some other VPN services to try others out. If you don't have a VPN when you get there, you have to either luck out and find a VPN .com that isn't blocked, or use a proxy freebie software. Best get it ready to go back home!
