For spam posts, what you can do is to "report abuse." I'm sure that Mr. Cat is well aware of the spammers here. I do think that sometimes they are allowed to go on much longer than they should, but how to regulate that? This site continues to evolve with proper input. I know some posters can be annoying, so lets all just give them 3+ thumbs down. See, problem solved; also much more satisfying than having it deleted. 

There should be a limit on questions for sure. At least then the usual suspect(s) may at least have to put some thought into what they ask. The more relevant ones will also not as easily be bumped off the front pages either.

I would say a limit of 15 questions per person per month would be fine.

Lets think this one thru like if each of us were THE CAT, please.  And I am not privy to any information, I just like to know the rules of the game.

The key for this site to generate interest, and develop plenty of good members, and offer intelligent and complete answers, is number one get lots of questions asked.  And number two, have members who can offer sound, intelligent and well rounded answers.  Those two, besides spreading the word of its existance among other ExPats who are non members.

I think the Administration here thinks along those lines,  If not, why raise from 2 to 5 points each question ?.  Unfortunately, many here just want to accumulate points, and will do anything to accomplish that.

Today, you are limited to post 5 questions each day, anything else gets no points.  Please allow me to point out one particular member (or maybe two) who are well known to post irrevelant and stupid questions everyday.  Check and see how many he posts each day, please ?.  You will see he averages from 3 to 5.

Now, how can members (not the CAT) attempt to control this?.  I have suggested already that when you see either a stupid question, or an irrevelant one, or even one asking for personal information about finances or investments, we just all ignore it and post no replies.   When questions accumulate on the NEED ANSWER section for days without a reply, the CAT will act on them.  And also, following Jnusb416 good advice, give it a thums down so it will disapear sooner.  But unfortunately, each day, \some of these questions do get replies and no thumbs down

Placing a limit on the number of questions allowed to be posted will just create members with a few usernames. It will not resolve the issue.  I think we need to think a little more and come up with a better solution.  And I am sure that the Admin will be willing to listen to, and implement any good suggestion offered.

Why should the genuine posters be punished for the sins of the stupid?

There is a limit of questions and another limit of answers you can get points for on a daily basis.

Trying to put more limits in place isn't only discouraging the post-abusers, but you're also going to discourage the posters we actually find helpful. 

It's better to just ignore them. Or have a little fun with it, and take little jabs at them. 

And most importantly, keep smiling and laughing at their insanity

Yes you should have a limit to the amount of questions you can ask in a month. But there should an exception if admin give approval.

Why not just have those posts with a negative score of X LOSE points... and lose them by the number of thumbs down?? (only applicable to those that hit the amount to minimise the post)

Also, it will COST you points to post a question. For most of us, that's not an issue... for some, however, it will severely dent their stupidity!
