Is air quality a national secret?
Why shouldn't they? Probably because it 'upsets the Chinese people' (whatever the f**k that means, why's it used by politicians all the time?) to know that the daily fog is actually cvalled smog and is why little Panda has breathing difficulties.
sunilsah2050:
chinese people are not upset about it .. ITs the chinese government who is upset because chinese people are able to know that the government is lying about air quality .........
it was the US that put pressure on China due to netizens getting a better quality readings of the pollution index 2.5 compared to 10. China has now introduced the 2.5 standard to monitor air pollution it probably sees US as a competitor and doesn't like the competition.
no compititions the 2 different readings are so far apart it pissed of beijing
I absolutely think the US has the right to monitor and report air quality within their embassy grounds. I believe Australia and the UK and Russia and any other country with an embassy outside their own land has the same right. Just like China has the right to do it here.
And why wouldn't they want to report air quality to their traveling citizens. Air quality is a public health concern, and just like our embassies report on other potential health risks from countries around the world, they absolutely should report the pollution.
Of course. Sorry, but the Chinese government may be able to be ridiculous and control their own people on stupid crap like this, but they can't control the rest of us. What's next? Saying the US can't report the daily temperature, of course they actually DO lie about that as well, cause if it breaks 40 they have to close down certain factories.
Yep. If you have the information, one can report on anything that is publicly available. If another person or entity doesn't like it, they can change what they are doing. In other words, change actions to create facts, not "facts" to create reality.
IF you are implying that the US as the biggest consumer in the world has no place negating their own role in the air quality in China and claiming some on behalf of their own corporations then no. IT would be cool if they took responsibility for a portion of the air quality that their companies have contributed!
But if you're not seeing the irony in it then yes of course, reliable information is certainly important.
