im to old, bar of soap and razor, never used anything else. hell i use the soap instead of shampoo, drives my wife crazy, but i smell like dove so she doesnt complain to much

Scandinavian:

I can second that approach. After a while of being driven crazy my wife did get me some L'Oreal MenExpert shaving foam that was pretty good. I believe she got it in either Watsons or Carre Four.

Me too! Ordinary soap, and 'horsetail brush'. I have one shaving gel tube  with me only when I am boarding the plane.

Real men use foam. Not really, I made that up.

Use whatever is easy and feels good. I use the cheap local foams or Gillette Foamy. Either way do what you like. It's your face.

Unless you're married.

Foam, easier to rinse off the blades

icnif77:

Do you rinse blades, before you throw it away?  Why?

Disposable razors suck, Try Gillete Fusion 5 blade type shaver, what a difference. One set of blades will last month. I tried a new disposable that I had lying around, all i got was razor burn. I can scrub pots with my face, even with several days growth, these blades will just glide through. I have to rinse my blade because it takes more than one stroke to shave, unlike Chinese that 7 hairs on their face and usually 2 inches long.

I am using Gillette Sensor Excel blades. I stack with them on last year's HK trip. However, they aren't grey like US and UK ones. HK blades are black, and I have feeling they last longer too.

I am rinsing my soap of blades, too. One cartridge (5 blades) last me longer than one month.

I use shampoo. My  facial hair is thin and a three days growth makes me look like splinter from the Ninja Turtles, so I do need anything special.

Foam man, all the way; it has a nicer smell, is kinder to the skin, and washes more gently off the balls.

Philips-Norelco.  I've seen some Chinese knockoffs if you'd rather save a few bucks

Gel is better for the skin and lasts a LOT longer so is better value.

I used to use foam, but I've switched to dry shaving....but of the two I would choose foam!

2 weeks ago, I posted this ? .... I bought 2 things of gel ... one is now empty so maybe 10 shaves............  a can of foam lasts me best part of a year, not 2 weeks.......... and the foam isn't like getting grease off your hands  .... I'm back to foam!!!!!!!!!!!   it says Gillette gel, I wonder what it really was  ....oh well, live and learn.

Hugh.G.Rection:

Then you're using  WAY too much gel, a 1cm cubed dab is sufficient for any human face as it expands on contact with air and then again when rubbed into the face.

I don't use anything, just take a hot steamy shower, let the skin moisten and then soften, then use 4 blade razor to cut it off. I've done this for years, rarely bleed.

Or, alternatively, a set of clippers.

I shave my head once a week, everything apart from the eyebrows.

Saved me a fortune in razors and foam/gel.

They cost me ten pounds from ebay five years ago.

Get one of those designer stubble electric razors. Every couple of days you can trim it down to where its barely a 5 o'clock shadow. Its fast, easy, and no irritation from actual shaving, or gel or foam for that matter.. Plus most women dig the stubble look.

For a smoother shave, I prefer gel over foam anytime. However, if you want to save some pennies, then I would suggest the foam option, as you do tend to get more.
